Job summary

University of Guelph seeks a Biological Engineering Laboratory Technician to support undergraduate teaching and research laboratories. Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you will ensure safe, effective, and efficient operation of labs while providing technical expertise to faculty, staff, researchers, and students.

You will manage day-to-day lab operations, calibrate and repair equipment, uphold safety standards, and assist with procedures, procurement, and training.

Qualifications

• A three-year diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology or a related discipline.
• Several years of relevant laboratory experience, preferably supporting teaching and research in a post-secondary, research, or industrial environment.
• Experience maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting scientific instrumentation and laboratory equipment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory safety practices, biological sciences, and technical laboratory procedures.
• Excellent organizational, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation is considered an asset.

• Participate in departmental committees, outreach activities, and special projects supporting the College of Engineering.
