Your Opportunity

As the GTA BIM Leader, you will represent our Business Centre, spearheading the development and implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) best practices. Your role is crucial for process improvement, user support, training, and assisting Practice/Technical leadership and project management in strategic initiatives. You will provide leadership, technical expertise, and ensure consistency of product and process to enhance project and design delivery within the GTA Buildings Practice (Architecture & Engineering).

Responsibilities

  1. Lead in monthly Digital Practice Meetings, representing local architectural and engineering practice needs.
  2. Serve as a liaison for BIM-related matters both internally and externally.
  3. Implement interdisciplinary standards and digital project delivery improvements.
  4. Guide project teams on scope, approach, setup, and delivery of BIM-related tasks, including Digital Project Execution Plans.
  5. Develop and oversee templates, families, and digital content for consistency and efficiency.
  6. Review projects regularly to ensure quality and standards compliance.
  7. Evaluate and recommend new BIM technologies.
  8. Lead user support and training sessions.
  9. Communicate standards and initiatives across the studio or office.
  10. Allocate approximately 60% of your time to leadership and management tasks, with flexibility based on project needs.

Qualifications

  • Proven success in delivering large, complex AE projects, especially in design and APD.
  • Deep knowledge of building systems design, layout, and coordination.
  • Expertise in modeling, drafting, visualization software, including Autodesk Building Suite and plug-ins.
  • Strong understanding of design coordination and clash detection technologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Visio, Project, and familiarity with Bluebeam, Newforma, SketchUp, dRofus, ProCore.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, organizational, and teamwork skills.
  • Experience serving as a Business Center representative for BIM development and process improvement.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in AE field.
  • Minimum 12 years of AE industry experience, with at least 5 years in BIM technologies.
  • At least 3 years of management/leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience with large and complex projects, preferably in healthcare.

This role involves typical office work with computers and occasional fieldwork exposure to weather conditions. This description may be updated as needed.
