Job summary

YMCA - Youth Gambling Awareness Program in Peterborough, Ontario, is seeking an Education & Awareness Coordinator to deliver webinars and workshops for youth, parents, and professionals in English (and French for bilingual candidates). The role supports outreach, partnership maintenance, and content development while ensuring adherence to evidence-based standards and relevant legislation.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Social Sciences, Public Health, Education, Business, Communication, Marketing, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to draft and design clear communications.
• Ability to work efficiently with a high degree of independence.
• Knowledge of harm reduction principles is an asset.
• Understanding of learning principles for youth and adults is an asset.
• Knowledge of community resources in the province of practice is an asset.
• Knowledge of Ministry of Education curriculum is an asset.
• Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity, with ability to address barriers.
• Bilingual English and French candidates are welcome.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and facilitate educational webinars and workshops online and in person to youth, parents, and professionals involved in youths’ lives in English and in French.
• Plan and chair online and in-person meetings with youth groups and professionals.
• Establish and maintain relationships with school boards, community organizations, and youth service providers.
• Plan, organize, and implement community involvement initiatives in collaboration with other community organizations.
• Design and implement youth engagement activities.
• Develop, engage, and support an advisory or partnership committee including youth and adults.
• Develop and implement outreach strategies to engage local communities and meet monthly targets.
• Maintain records and statistics and provide monthly reports.
• Create content and support the program’s online content strategy and online presence.
• Collaborate to develop service delivery plans ensuring youth have access to programs and opportunities.
