The YMCA of Eastern Ontario in Brockville is seeking a Registered Early Childhood Educator to guide children from birth to 6 years old within the YMCA Child Care Program.

You will work under supervision to support physical, social, cognitive, and emotional development in a learning-rich environment, adhering to CCEYA and YP2L guidelines.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children from birth to age 6.
• Experience with play-based pedagogy and knowledge of How Does Learning Happen?
• Diploma in Early Childhood Education and current CHE registration.
• Up-to-date immunizations and First Aid/CPR Level C.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organizing and implementing the YMCA Child Care Program.
• Ensure safety and supervision of children in programs.
• Uphold YMCA values and strive to sustain high-quality services.
• Fulfill principal duties outlined in the Early Childhood Educator job description.

Hours: Flexible work schedule between 6:45am and 5:45pm, Monday to Friday. Occasional weekend or evenings may be required.
Compensation: $26.05 per hour (inclusive of wage enhancements)

Nature & Scope

With the support of the Supervisor, Child Care, the incumbent will be working in a team of Early Childhood Educators to guide children in their physical, social, cognitive and emotional development, in accordance with the Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA), YMCA Playing to Learn (YP2L) curriculum and program statement. The incumbent must be adaptable, competent and comfortable working with children who range in age from birth to 6 years old.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in the planning, organization and implementation of the YMCA Child Care Program.
• Adherence to the policies and procedures of the YMCA, as well as meeting or exceeding all standards required by the Ministry of Education, the YMCA of Eastern Ontario and any other third-party regulatory body.
• Ensuring the safety of children in programs by providing continuous care and supervision.
• Upholding the philosophy and values of the YMCA Child Care Centre and striving to improve and sustain services at the highest level of quality.
• Conducting all principal requirements of the position as detailed in the Early Childhood Educator job description.

Qualifications

• Criminal Reference Check (CPIC) including Vulnerable Sector Check completed not more than 120 days prior to interview, with results acceptable to the YMCA of Eastern Ontario.
• Experience working with children from birth to age 6.
• Experience with play-based pedagogy and knowledge of How Does Learning Happen?
• Diploma in Early Childhood Education
• A current member, registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators
• Up-to date-immunizations
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
