Job summary

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation is seeking a Bilingual Specialist, Corporate Governance in Ottawa. You will support Board and internal committees, develop accurate minutes, and help ensure governance processes comply with legislation and OSFI directives.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and at least five years of governance experience, with strong interpersonal, analytical and listening skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with 5+ years governance experience.
• Knowledge of the legislative framework and compliance requirements for Crown governance.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with Board members and Senior Management.
• Demonstrated analytical skills to synthesize data and summarize discussions.
• Excellent listening skills and ability to focus for extended periods.
• Experience with web-based document distribution or filing systems.
• Bilingualism in English and French.

Responsibilities

• Attend internal corporate committee and Board meetings; may travel within Canada.
• Draft credible, accurate meeting minutes for corporate records.
• Manage action lists and report progress; advise clients on actions and reporting.
• Preserve governance process integrity; promote transparent decision-making.

About the role

Join the Corporate Governance team, in the Specialist, Corporate Governance position. In this role, you will work closely with the Board of Directors and internal committees to support effective decision-making. You will contribute to the governance framework and facilitate corporate decision-making processes, helping advance our mission to make housing affordable for everyone in Canada.

This is a temporary position ending on December 31, 2027.

What you’ll do:

• Attend internal corporate committee meetings and Board and Committee meetings, which may require travelling to other locations within Canada.
• Develop credible and accurate meeting minutes of highly complex subject matters for the purpose of creating corporate legal records.
• Manage meeting action lists and monitor progress towards resolution. Advise and support clients in addressing actions and determine appropriate reporting mechanisms.
• Preserve the integrity of the governance process; promote effective and transparent decision-making and identify gaps and trends affecting the process.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, government directives, and relevant guidelines of the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI); and internal regulations, including by-laws and charter.
• Benchmark governance processes and maintain a variety of internal and external relationships to identify best practices on governance matters.
• Keep abreast of evolving directives, standards, and regulatory reporting requirements.

What you should have:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with a minimum of five (5) years experience in governance; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Knowledge of the legislative framework and compliance requirements as they apply to corporate governance of a Crown Corporation.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact professionally various clients at all levels, including Board members and Senior Management.
• Demonstrated analytical skills, including the ability to synthesize data, record and summarize real-time discussions.
• Excellent listening skills and the ability to focus and concentrate for extended periods of time.
• A demonstrated experience working with Web-based document distribution or filing systems.
• Bilingualism (English and French).

It would be great if you also had:

• A Governance Professional of Canada designation (GPC.D).
