Job summary

Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) is seeking a Bilingual National Coach, Shared Services to support employees across the Small Business Digital Banking team. You will provide coaching, onboarding support, training, and skill development to analysts and business development professionals.

In a hybrid work model, you will partner with leaders to onboard new hires, deliver targeted trainings on topics like CLICs, marketing tools, and credit policies, and help coaches grow while advancing

Qualifications

  • Bilingual English and French.
  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce, finance, business administration, or an equivalent credential.
  • Five or more years of experience in business development and/or credit analysis within BDC.
  • Demonstrated success in business development.
  • Experience as a peer coach and providing coaching feedback.
  • Ability to assess development needs and adapt coaching approaches.
  • Strong collaboration skills with peers and stakeholders.
  • Diagnostic, facilitation and presentation capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized coaching, feedback, and action-plan follow-up for new and existing employees.
  • Collaborate with leaders to support onboarding and integration, guiding peer coaches.
  • Deliver training on new initiatives and specific skill-development needs.
  • Train employees on common topics including CLICs, marketing tools, policies, credit guidelines, and segmentation.
  • Support peer coaches with training resources and guidance.
  • Monitor coaching needs to ensure appropriate coverage of local coaches.
  • Participate in Operations Support projects advancing SB-DB priorities.
  • Help employees strengthen business development and banking skills for Canadian entrepreneurs.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Bilingual National Coach, Shared Services supports employees across the Small Business Digital Banking (SB-DB) team, including the Client Contact Centre, Virtual Business Centres, and Online Financing team. The role provides individualized coaching, onboarding support, training, and skill development to employees in analyst and business development roles. As the only bank dedicated exclusively to Canadian entrepreneurs, BDC supports the growth of small and medium-sized businesses across Canada. Through effective coaching and employee development, your work contributes directly to the success of Canadian businesses while supporting an inclusive environment where people can be themselves at work.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET
  • Provide individualized coaching, feedback, and action-plan follow-up for new and existing employees in analyst and business development roles.
  • Collaborate with leaders to support new-hire onboarding and integration, including guiding peer coaches and providing feedback on employee development and training plans.
  • Deliver training to new and existing employees on new initiatives and specific skill-development needs, as required.
  • Work closely with the regional strategy implementation team and Learning Specialists to train employees on common learning topics, including CLICs, marketing tools, BDC policies, business practices, credit guidelines, and segmentation.
  • Support peer coaches by ensuring they have the appropriate training, resources, and guidance to provide effective employee coaching.
  • Monitor team coaching needs to help ensure an appropriate number and mix of local coaches are available.
  • Participate in Operations Support projects that advance the strategic priorities of the Small Business Digital Banking team.
  • Help employees strengthen the business development and banking skills they use to support Canadian entrepreneurs.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • Bilingualism in English and French.
  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce, finance, business administration, or an equivalent field/credential.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in business development and/or credit analysis within BDC.
  • Demonstrated successful performance in business development.
  • Experience as a peer coach.
  • Demonstrated experience providing individual coaching and actionable feedback focused on employee skill development.
  • Ability to assess employee development needs and adapt coaching approaches to the needs of the employee.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with peers and other stakeholders.
  • Diagnostic skills to identify coaching and employee development needs.
  • Facilitation and presentation skills.
