Intertek is seeking a Laboratory Technician 1 (Union) to join our Montreal, QC office. This full-time position involves receiving samples, performing analyses with standard methods, and operating GC, GC-MS, ICP and related equipment.

The role requires attention to documentation, calibration, and assisting with training of colleagues. Bilingual ability is valued for interactions with clients and staff across locations.

Qualifications

• The Laboratory Technician must have a high school diploma or equivalent, have a basic knowledge of chemistry.
• The technician must be physically capable of performing the required work.
• The Laboratory Technician must have a positive attitude, a high tolerance for work pressure and long hours, and the ability to work and communicate with people of diverse personalities and backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Receive, review and record materials for testing through a check-in process (GLIMS software).
• Perform analyses using standard methods such as ASTM, ISO, Nace, IP etc.
• Perform analysis using equipment such as GC, GC-MS, ICP, Flash point, Densimeter etc.
• Analyze various products such as Gasoline, Diesel, Jet, Aromatics (Benzene, xylene).
• Monitor supplies and inform management of needs for the analytical process.
• Prepare samples and control specimens, calibrate equipment and standardize reagents.
• Verify and report results, record entries in instrument logs and calibration records.
• Assist in training less experienced employees.
