Job summary

Canada Life, Montreal head office, is seeking a bilingual Litigation Counsel to join the Canadian litigation team. The role offers a hybrid work model with three days in-office in Montreal, and exposure to life, health, and disability insurance matters, with ownership of files from inception through resolution.

You will provide strategic legal advice to business partners, conduct examinations and court appearances, and collaborate with external counsel.

Qualifications

• Law degree and Barreau du Québec membership in good standing.
• 3–5 years civil litigation experience; insurance-related experience is a plus.
• Bilingual in French and English required.
• Willingness to obtain additional provincial calls to the bar.

Responsibilities

• Managing a diverse portfolio of Quebec-based litigation matters from inception through resolution.
• Providing timely advice and representation to business partners on pre-litigation and litigation matters.
• Conducting examinations, mediations, settlement conferences, and court appearances.
• Drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and settlement agreements.
• Contributing to strategic initiatives to enhance litigation capabilities and efficiency.
• Building relationships with business partners and participating in team meetings.
• Delivering presentations and training on litigation topics.
