Job summary

An established industry player is seeking a Bilingual HR Business Partner to lead HR initiatives within its retail teams across Ontario. This role is pivotal in supporting store managers and ensuring a productive workforce aligned with the company's mission. You will provide expert guidance on employee relations, conduct workplace investigations, and enforce compliance with employment laws. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR, be fluent in both French and English, and possess the ability to travel across the Greater Toronto Area to provide on-site support. Job Title:

Bilingual Human Resources Business Partner - Ontario

Bilingual HR Business Partner Ontario – UNIQLO Canada (Retail Stores)

As a Bilingual HR Business Partner (HRBP), you will play a pivotal role in supporting store managers and sales floor teams, ensuring that our workforce remains engaged, productive, and aligned with UNIQLO’s mission. Key Responsibilities:
  1. Act as the main HR advisor for store managers, assistant store managers, and area managers in your assigned region
  2. Provide expert guidance on employee relations issues, from coaching to conflict resolution
  3. Conduct workplace investigations and ensure compliance with employment law
  4. Enforce progressive discipline, lead disciplinary meetings, and manage termination processes with professionalism
  5. Ensure employee records are complete and accurate in accordance with company policies and procedures
  6. Partner with recruiters to coordinate hiring for mid-level management roles in stores
  7. Support the recruitment and onboarding processes for new store associates by supporting interview process, conducting new hire orientation, ensuring employees are enrolled in our HRIS/store systems, and following up with Payroll, Store Managers, and HR members to ensure employee onboarding is completed
  8. Assist in the ongoing review, development and implementation of company policies, programs and initiatives including delivering training programs
  9. Monitor workforce trends, assess store needs, and implement HR strategies that improve engagement and retention
  10. Support with regional organization planning and staff development including creating and monitoring the progress of a development plan with area managers and HR Manager
  11. Serve as the HRBP backup for Québec when needed, ensuring smooth operations across regions
  12. Stay ahead of labor laws and HR best practices, ensuring UNIQLO remains compliant and competitive
  13. Ensure company operates in accordance with all applicable legislation including Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, etc.
  14. Sit as a member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee and oversee meetings of the stores JHSC's
  15. Provide a weekly HR report summarizing key activities and observations
  16. Additional duties as required
Desired Skills and Experience:
  1. University degree / Post secondary education in Human Resources or related field
  2. 3+ years of experience advising managers and leaders on employee relations
  3. Strong understanding of employment law and HR compliance in Canada
  4. Prior experience in retail HR is a strong asset
  5. Experience working in a unionized environment is an advantage
  6. Proven ability to conduct workplace investigations and provide sound HR recommendations
  7. Confident in handling performance management, disciplinary meetings, and terminations
  8. Ability to travel across the GTA (3 days per week) to visit stores and provide on-site HR support
  9. Fluent in French and English (spoken and written)
  10. Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with global teams and people at all levels of the organization
  11. Permanent work authorization in Canada (eligible to work for any employer)
  12. CHRP designation preferred
  13. Proficient in using Microsoft Office tools and HRIS systems
  14. Ability to operate with high level of integrity and confidentiality
  15. Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks with minimal supervision
