District Overview
HR Operations is an integral partner and service provider at Kiewit. In recent years, we have gone from decentralized HR groups to a unified, shared service team, with various HR Centers of Excellence. Our vision is to be a best-in-class international HR organization.
Location
This position will be based out of one of the regional offices in Calgary, Oakville or Vancouver.
Responsibilities
- Professionally and accurately respond to complex HR questions, issues, and problems through telephone, chat, email, and drop-in face-to-face interactions. Apply strong judgment, policy knowledge, and critical thinking to analyze each situation and determine the best course of action.
- Support onboarding and offboarding processes for both full-time employees and interns to ensure consistent messaging across the department while identifying opportunities to enhance the experience and reduce inefficiencies..
- Function as a primary Advisor for designated districts within the company to support them through both our high-volume intern onboarding season in the spring/summer, as well as any year-round intern and early career onboarding needs they may have.
- Act as the main point of contact for new hires before their start date, providing a best-in-class onboarding experience that balances empathy, consistency, and informed decision-making.
- Leverage HR dashboards, reports, and data to build reports, presentations, and communications for the HRBP and department leadership.
- Navigate and utilize various HR information systems (HRIS), using a solution-focused approach to support employees and managers while identifying opportunities to streamline processes.
- Analyze case audits and work products to identify patterns and trends, and provide data-driven recommendations to enhance process efficiency and effectiveness. Collaborate with management to uncover workflow challenges, identify improvement opportunities, and proactively stay informed on organizational policies, procedures, and changes.Obtain and provide requested information or take appropriate action to resolve, refer, or escalate issues in accordance with company and/or HR policies and procedures.
- Work closely with the field HR teams, employees, and management and support the department in the administration of assigned work, including reprioritizing tasks to meet fluctuating workflow.
- Stay up to date on internal policies, organizational changes, and best practices, continuously applying strategic thinking to improve service delivery and employee experience.
- A successful candidate must demonstrate strong verbal and written proficiency, with the ability to clearly articulate and translate complex technical content such as knowledge articles, standard operating procedures (SOPs), email templates, and internal documentation. High-level language skills and attention to detail are essential to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency across all translated materials.
- This role also requires translating content between English and French, including knowledge articles, SOPs, email templates, and other documentation, to support clear and consistent communication across both languages.

Qualifications
- 3+ years of Human Resources experience
- Degree in Human Resources or related field preferred
- Knowledge of various areas of human resources including onboarding, separations, benefits, employment, and pay-related practices
- Proven ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced, Shared Service / Center of Excellence office environment
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
- Ability to assess complex issues, identify trends, and recommend solutions
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Familiarity with HRIS systems is a plus
- Ability to work with a diverse group of employees and individuals
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Fluency in both English and French is required, as this role involves frequent communication and documentation in both languages. #LI-IS1
