Bilingual Employee Relations Business Partner

Join to apply for the Bilingual Employee Relations Business Partner role at BMO.

Provides expert employee relations advice and governance to an assigned portfolio to ensure that employee relations policies, practices, and strategies support business/group strategies and meet regulatory/legal requirements. Implements initiatives and HR solutions across business groups, supporting programs related to acquisitions, divestitures, employment transitions, separation agreements, and outsourcing.

  • Acts as a trusted advisor to the assigned business/group.
  • Influences and negotiates to achieve business objectives.
  • Develops strategic plans and identifies emerging issues and trends.
  • Provides expertise in areas such as misconduct, corrective action, attendance, leaves of absence, performance management, harassment, discrimination, workplace accommodations, and adjudication.
  • Designs and produces reports and dashboards.
  • Builds change management plans and leads change activities.
  • Manages high-risk ER matters, including legal cases and investigations, representing the business in legal proceedings as required.
  • Reviews documentation, negotiates, and authorizes separation agreements within prescribed limits.
  • Monitors legislation and ensures compliance.
  • Develops employee relations solutions aligned with business strategies and stakeholder needs.
  • Provides advice and guidance on implementing solutions.
  • Educates managers on labor relations, HR policies, legislation, and related training.
  • Interprets regulations and policies to resolve business issues.
  • Supports strategic initiatives and conducts independent analysis.
  • Provides support for severance and workforce reductions.
  • Handles employee relations requests, assesses facts, and mitigates risks.
  • Ensures alignment and builds relationships with stakeholders.
  • Acts as point person for vendor relationships and operational programs.
  • Analyzes data to provide employee relations insights and recommendations.
  • Monitors program performance and addresses issues.
  • Provides consulting, analytical, and technical support.
  • Works independently on non-routine situations.

Qualifications:

  • Typically 5-7 years of relevant experience with a related post-secondary degree or equivalent experience.
  • Law degree and HR designation preferred.
  • Fluent in French and English.
  • Deep knowledge and technical proficiency through extensive education and experience.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, analytical, and influence skills.
  • Data-driven decision-making skills.

You're fluent in French and English to support business operations outside Quebec.

Salary: $68,000 - $126,000
