Job summary

Compass Group Canada is seeking a Bilingual Catering Manager to lead on-site events, manage staff, and coordinate service from setup to closeout. The role requires strong leadership, exceptional customer service, and the ability to work under pressure across morning and evening events.

Ideal candidates will be bilingual (English/French), possess a valid Ontario driver’s license, and hold Food Handler and Responsible Beverage Service certifications.

Qualifications

• Fully bilingual (English/French) with the ability to communicate in both languages.
• Must have a valid Ontario Driver's License.
• Valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent and Responsible Beverage Service Certificate for the province.
• Open availability for morning and evening events.
• Minimum 4 years catering or hospitality management, supervisory experience.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Able to read event orders and organize deliveries.
• Adept at conflict resolution.
• Strong problem solving and delegation skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage staff and follow timelines for event setups and service.
• Engage with clients and Sales Managers and maintain rapport during events.
• Ensure all food is presented, served, and displayed per standards.
• Log and maintain food temperatures.
• Load vans with catering supplies and ensure items are accounted for.
• Drive to event locations.
• Coordinate catering staff schedules to ensure timely delivery, service and cleanup.
• Maintain a calm demeanor under pressure.
• Make quick, efficient decisions.
• Thoroughly clean location after events and assist with inventory and closeout tasks.
• Return equipment to catering facility.
• Ensure compliance with Compass Quality Assurance and Health & Safety programs.

Job description

The salary range for this position is $55,000 to $60,000. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may be entitled to other elements of total compensation, which may include group benefits, employer RRSP contributions, and discretionary bonus or incentive programs, where applicable to the role. We are committed to offering competitive compensation and comply with all applicable pay transparency legislation. Further details regarding our total rewards program will be shared by the Talent Acquisition team during the hiring process. Canadian work experience is not a requirement for this role. How you will make an Impact: Our Bilingual Catering Managers are the face of the company for on-site events. This position requires a very special skill set and personality. Managing a catered event requires solution-based thinking, speed and sense of urgency while following timelines, as well as attention to detail for service floor plans and table maps for plated dinners. This is a leadership role that requires managing the on-site staff and keeping everyone on task, while also overseeing the entire scope of service and liaising with our clients.
