Job summary

Optimum Insurance Company is seeking a Bilingual Accounts Receivable Clerk to support brokers, insureds, and internal teams. The role focuses on payments processing, reconciliations, and customer service across Canada within a hybrid North Bay setting.

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the candidate should be fluent in French and English, with accounting education or experience, and strong Excel/Outlook skills.

Qualifications

  • Bilingualism in French and English is mandatory (spoken and written).
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in accounts receivable, accounting, insurance operations, or admin support is an asset.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong keyboarding and data entry skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Process incoming payments and prepare bank deposits.
  • Apply payments for PAC and Direct Bill policies.
  • Process banking changes and billing amendments.
  • Manage returned payments (NSF) and account follow-up.
  • Prepare registered letters, lapse notices, and account-related correspondence.
  • Respond to inquiries from brokers, insureds, and underwriting teams.
  • Assist with account reconciliation and collection activities.
  • Maintain accurate records and data integrity.
  • Support special projects and departmental initiatives.

Bilingual Accounts Receivable Clerk

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Bilingual Broker Accounts Receivable Clerk is responsible for providing financial and administrative support to ensure the accurate processing of payments, collections, and broker account activities.

This role supports brokers, insureds, and internal stakeholders across multiple regions and plays a key role in maintaining efficient accounts receivable operations while delivering exceptional customer service.

Compensation

The annual salary range for this position is between $48,000 and $58,000, depending on the successful candidate's qualifications, experience, and overall fit for the role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process incoming payments and prepare bank deposits.
  • Apply payments received for PAC (Pre-Authorized Chequing) and Direct Bill policies.
  • Process banking changes, withdrawal date changes, and billing amendments.
  • Manage returned payments (NSF) and perform required account follow-up.
  • Prepare registered letters, lapse notices, and other account-related correspondence.
  • Respond to inquiries from brokers, insureds, and underwriting teams.
  • Assist with account reconciliation and collection activities.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure data integrity.
  • Support special projects and departmental initiatives as required.
