Job summary

Alstom in Toronto, ON is seeking a seasoned Bid Manager to lead bid strategy, pricing, and governance for complex rail projects. You will coordinate cross-functional teams across Legal, Finance, Tax, Insurance, and commercial groups to shape winning proposals and maintain QCDP targets.

The role requires 5+ years in bid/tender management, strong Excel and project-controlling skills, and fluency in English. Open Book/Stage Gate experience is a plus; collaboration and urgency are valued.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Legal, Finance, Tax, and Insurance to deliver optimized pricing and cash flow.
  • Identify and analyze risks and savings opportunities.
  • Ensure adherence to bid processes and obtain leadership validation.
  • Evaluate and control tender budgets.
  • Follow customer negotiations and adapt offers.
  • Issue Tender Transfer Meetings and contribute to continuous improvement.

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your project management and commercial expertise in a transformative field. You’ll work alongside collaborative, dynamic, and innovative teammates.

You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the success of our bids, ensuring alignment with client needs and driving the On-Corridor Works project forward. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (Legal, Finance, Tax, Insurance), lead bid preparation in line with our signalling and solutions strategy, and oversee the tender process from start to finish.

You’ll specifically take care of defining bid operational strategies and coordinating cross-functional efforts, but also contribute to customer negotiations and ensure compliance with Alstom’s bid governance processes.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Analyzing Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and defining bid operational strategies
  • Proposing project contractual organizations, partnership strategies, and external system purchases
  • Committing to quality, cost, delivery, and performance (QCDP) targets
  • Coordinating with Legal, Finance, Tax, and Insurance to deliver optimized pricing and cash flow
  • Identifying and analyzing risks and savings opportunities
  • Ensuring adherence to Alstom’s bid processes and obtaining leadership validation
  • Evaluating and controlling tender budgets
  • Following customer negotiations and adapting offers based on evolving requirements
  • Issuing Tender Transfer Meetings (TTM) and contributing to continuous improvement through feedback

  • Degree in Engineering or a business-related field
  • 5+ years of experience in Bid or Tender management, finance, or projects
  • Proven experience with multi-million-dollar consolidations
  • Proficiency in cost consolidation and scheduling tools
  • Strong project management and project controlling knowledge
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel
  • Fluency in English
  • Peference for candidates with experience in Open Book and Stage Gate tender environments
  • Key competencies: teamwork, autonomy, proactivity, strong communication skills, resilience, and a sense of urgency

Compensation

The expected compensation for this role is$110,000 – $145,000 CAD per year, plus benefits and eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience, and internal equity.
