The Behaviour Outreach Facilitator’s primary role is to facilitateCalgary Humane Society’s educational, training, and community outreachprograms. These programs aim to build community awareness around positivereinforcement training methods, animal behaviour concerns, and responsible petownership while fostering empathy and compassion for the animals in ourcommunity.
Rotation:
- Thursday to Monday | 37.5 hours per week
- Hours of work: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Annual Salary:
- $36,367.50with an increase to $40,170.00 upon successful completion of theprobationary period.
Duties:
- Coordinate behaviour training classes andconsultations, including:
- Scheduling classes and private consultations
- Managing class registration, payments, and clientcommunications
- Ensuring classes are posted, promoted, filled, andeffectively staffed
- Produce monthly reports summarizing class participation, revenue, and trends forsubmission to the Director of Community Services & PathwayPlanning and the Board
- Support content development by working with sheltertrainers to identify opportunities for new classes, update materials, andalign offerings with community needs
- Assist internal operations by performing trainingduties as assigned by the Director of Community Services & PathwayPlanning or shelter trainers, including supporting staff with trainingplans or assisting in class delivery
- Provide high-quality client service by responding tobehaviour inquiries, assisting with the behaviour helpline, and directingclients to appropriate resources
- Maintain positive relationships with contracttrainers, class participants, and community partners
- Support departmental administration, includingupdating manuals, processes, and behaviour handouts as directed
- Assist with event and program promotion incollaboration with Marketing and Communications staff

- Promote a culture of volunteer engagement by workingpositively with volunteers and supporting recognition initiatives
Position Requirements:
- Interest in pursuing a professional trainingcertification (e.g., KPA, CPDT, IAABC, Pet Professional Guild)
- Flexibility to work a schedule that includes days,evenings, weekends, and some statutory holidays
- Basic knowledge of animal behaviour and a desire toexpand expertise through professional development
- Previous professional experience in animal welfare,dog daycare, class coordination, or public relations is an asset
- Working toward or willing to pursue professionaldevelopment or certifications in feline/canine behaviour
- Proven experience delivering effective communicationand high-quality customer service
- Confident public speaker
- Strong administrative skills; ability to maintainrecords and produce clear written/verbal reports; intermediate proficiencyin Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Strong time management and ability to work underpressure while balancing multiple priorities
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to work with adiverse range of people

- Must hold a Class 5 driver’s license with at least 3years driving experience and a clean driver’s abstract
Physical Requirements:
- Comfortable and capable of handling a variety ofspecies (e.g., cats, dogs, rabbits, birds, reptiles, rodents)
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
- Ability to perform repetitive motions: sitting,standing, reaching, lifting, squatting, bending, walking, and pulling
