Job summary

Calgary Humane Society is seeking a Community Services Facilitator to support intake, foster coordination, and community outreach with a client-centered approach. The role spans Admissions, Foster Care, and Community Programs to keep pets at home whenever possible.

You will coordinate foster placements, respond to inquiries, and help administer programs like vaccination and spay/neuter initiatives while maintaining accurate records and ensuring compassionate service.

37.5hours per week | Rotational schedule including days, evenings, and weekends | Shiftsbetween 8:30AM–7:00PM

Reporting to the Manager of Animal Admissions & Foster, theCommunity Services Facilitator is a collaborative, cross-functional role thatoperates across Animal Admissions, Foster Care, and Community Programs. Thisposition is integral to advancing the organization’s mission by supporting acoordinated, compassionate approach to service delivery for both animals andthe community.

The Community Services Facilitator plays a key role in ensuring aseamless and client-centered experience across the continuum of care—fromintake and diversion, to foster placement, to the delivery of community-basedsupports that help keep pets safely in their homes. This position requires ahigh degree of adaptability, sound judgment, and professionalism to effectivelynavigate a fast-paced environment while responding to the diverse needs ofclients and animals.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to animalwelfare, exceptional customer service, and the ability to effectivelycoordinate programs, resources, and communication across multiple teams insupport of organizational goals.

Responsibilities
Integrated Service Delivery
  • Act as aliaison across Admissions, Foster, and Community Programs to ensurecohesive, timely, and client-centered service delivery.
  • Support thefull lifecycle of care for animals and clients, including intake,diversion, foster placement, and community outreach programs.
  • Maintain strongcommunication between departments to ensure alignment, efficiency,and continuity of care.
Animal Admissions & Client Support
  • Provide compassionate, non-judgmental support to clientssurrendering animals or seeking assistance.
  • Assess andtriage animal intakes while exploring diversion opportunities andcommunity-based supports.
  • Processintake documentation, maintain accurate records, and managedatabase entries.
  • Coordinatefoster intakes, returns, and transportation logistics withinternal teams and external veterinary partners.
  • Respond topublic inquiries via phone, email, and in person.
Foster Program Coordination
  • Train andsupport foster families and volunteers.
  • Coordinatethe placement of animals into foster homes,ensuring timely and appropriate matches.
  • Maintainongoing communication with foster caregivers and provide day-to-daysupport.
  • Track andmanage foster animal records, inventory, and program documentation.
  • Supportvolunteer engagement, recognition initiatives, and foster appreciationefforts.
Community Programs & Outreach
  • Support theadministration of applications, appointment scheduling, and clientcommunication.
  • Collaboratewith veterinary teams and external partners to expand program offerings(e.g., vaccination and spay/neuter initiatives).
  • Track programdata and contribute to reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Develop anddocument policies, procedures, and best practices for program consistency.
  • Assist in the coordination, and delivery of community support programs, including:
  • Pet Safekeeping
  • Emergency Boarding
  • Seniors Program
  • Pet Food Bank
  • Keep Them Home initiatives
Collaboration & Operations Support
  • Provideadministrative and operational support across departments as needed.
  • Assist withanimal care duties including handling, cleaning, enrichment, and kennelsetup when required.
  • Supporttransport of animals to veterinary clinics and partner agencies.
  • Promotevolunteer engagement and donor stewardship through positiverelationship-building.
  • Participatein maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
Position Requirements:
  • High schooldiploma (post-secondary education in animal care, social work, or relatedfield an asset).
  • Experience incustomer service, program coordination, or animal welfare environments.
  • Stronginterpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to managesensitive situations compassionately.
  • Provenability to build relationships across diverse communities and stakeholders.
  • Excellentorganizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to managecompeting priorities.
  • Proficiency inMicrosoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work independently andcollaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Class 5 Driver’s License with a clear 3-yeardriver’s abstract required.
  • Successful candidate will be required to provide acriminal record check at their own expense to be arranged by CHS.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability tosafely handle animals and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Capacity forrepetitive physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, andlifting
  • Physicallycapable of, and comfortable handling a variety of species including butnot limited to: cats, dogs, rabbits, birds, reptiles, and other species
Annual Salary:

$36,367.50 with a 10.46% salary increaseafter successful completion of the probationary period.
