Job summary

Anglophone North School District in Bathurst invites applications for a Behaviour Intervention Mentor to support school teams in addressing challenging behaviour and promoting positive learning environments. This temporary position is 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with immediate start.

Responsibilities include training staff, applying evidence-based strategies, collaborating with school personnel and community partners, and contributing to student social and communication skill

Qualifications

  • Graduation from university at the bachelor level in psychology, social work or education with specific knowledge regarding behavioural and mental health challenges.
  • Knowledge of positive support, behaviour management strategies, applied behaviour analysis and crisis intervention is desirable.
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
  • Additional training in applied behaviour analysis is considered an asset.
  • A valid driver's license is required.

  • The Mentor may participate in case management and case conferencing in the development of intervention plans for behavior management plans.
  • Other related duties may be assigned as necessary.

Location: Bathurst Education Center Start Date: Immediately

Description

The Anglophone North School District is now accepting applications for a Behaviour Intervention Mentor.

  • This is professional and mentoring work in the planning and provision of services and activities to directly assist school teams in supporting students with challenging behaviour such that it does not impede the teaching and learning process in the classroom.
  • Working under the umbrella of Education Support Integrated Service Delivery, the Mentor assists school personnel in the provision of direct services to students through evidence-based interventions and strategies to accomplish the desired end. It is expected that such strategies will lead to development of social skills, communication skills, self-esteem and resilience of students involved.
  • Duties will also include providing training to school personnel in such areas as conflict management, anger management, observation techniques and teaching social skills.
  • Work will also consist of developing strategies to keep students' retention to promote positive social and communication skill development in students, as well as support the school team in developing positive learning environment initiatives. Work may also include conducting individual or group interventions, support teachers in behaviour management and collaborate with various professionals in the school system and in the community, such as teachers, school psychologists, social workers, probation officers and mental health professionals.
  • The Mentor may participate in case management and case conferencing in the development of intervention plans for behavior management plans.
  • Other related duties may be assigned as necessary.

Salary

In accordance with the New Brunswick Union of Public and Private Employees (Professional Support Group) Collective Agreement, $2,783.78 bi-weekly salary plus vacation pay (effective July 1, 2026).

This is an open competition; however, in accordance with the New Brunswick Union of Public and Private Employees Collective Agreement, should unionized employees under this bargaining group apply, employees shall be selected based on skill, ability and qualifications. Where skill, qualifications and ability are relatively equal amongst union applicants, the vacancy will be filled based on seniority within the bargaining unit. If there are no union applicants, the position will be filled from qualified applicants for this competition. Applicants must clearly demonstrate the essential qualifications to be given further consideration.
