Hours: 36.25 hours per week, Monday – Friday

Reports to: Director of Education Support Services Location: Bathurst, Dalhousie & Campbellton Area Schools

Description:

The ESS team provides integrated assessment and intervention services to children, youth, and families with multiple needs identified within the School District. The five core areas of development: health and wellness, emotional and behavioral functioning, family relationships, educational development, and mental health. This service is based on an Integrated Service Delivery framework that includes School Psychologists, School Social Workers, School Counselling, and Education Support Teachers – Resource, all of whom report to the Director of Education Support Services.

Under the direction of the Education Support Services Director, the School Psychologist I will be responsible to:

  • provide a broad range of professional psychological services in the school system in the application of the Science of Psychology to the areas of student learning and behaviour, understanding of child and adolescent exceptionalities and psychological adjustment.
  • consult with teachers, administrators, other school personnel, and parents in a collaborative process

of defining problems and developing appropriate programs and interventions.

  • be involved in individual student psychological assessments, in-service education, participation in the development and implementation of preventive and crisis response programs, program evaluation.
  • Travel is required.
Qualifications:

A Master's or Doctoral degree in Psychology with course work and experience to meet the requirements for

licensed membership in the College of Psychologists of New Brunswick. Successful completion of course work in child and adolescent development as well as child and adolescent exceptionalities are required. Experience

in school psychology is desirable. The successful candidate must be capable of working both independently

and in a collaborative manner with students, parents, teachers, Child and Youth Teams, and Education Support Services Teams. Knowledge of school-based decision-making and policies would be an asset.

Necessary Special Requirement:

Licensed membership in the College of Psychologists of New Brunswick or application pending.

Salary:

In accordance with the New Brunswick Union of Public and Private Employees–Professional Support Group Collective Agreement. If you are not eligible for licensure as a Psychologist I, candidates will be considered for employment as a Psychometrist II until meeting requirements for licensure.
