Job summary

Calgary French & International School (CFIS) invites applicants for a part-time Before and After School (BAS) Program Assistant for the 2026-2027 school year. The role runs 2:45 pm to 5:45 pm on school days, with potential on-call hours and development days.

You will help implement engaging after-school activities, supervise students, provide age-appropriate guidance, and maintain a safe, welcoming environment while adhering to Alberta licensing standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 1 Child Care Worker certification.
• CPR & First Aid Certification required.
• Strong English communication; French is an asset.
• Experience with children aged 5-12 is an asset.
• Ability to work part-time afternoon shifts and on-call hours.
• Police Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening prior to starting.

STATUS:Temporary, Part-Time

Position Summary:

CFIS is seeking apart-time Before and After School (BAS) Program Assistantfor a part of the 2026-2027 school year.

The shift for this position isfrom 2:45 - 5:45 pm on school days,with the possibility of additional hours on an on-call basis and on professional development days.

This is a temporary position for 2 months with the possibility of extension based on operational needs.

Responsibilities of this position include:

• Assist in the implementation of before-and-after-school programming.
• Programming is driven by students' interests, and may include:
  Arts activities (visual arts, dance, drama, music)
  Athletic activities (team & individual sports, yoga, etc.)
  Outdoor play & exploration
  Dramatic play
  Homework time
  Literacy activities
  Leadership and philanthropy
  Science experiments and exploration
  Robotics, coding & programing
• Engage in active supervision of students at all times.
• Provide developmentally appropriate behavioral guidance.
• Participate in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
• Maintain Alberta Child Care Licensing Standards at all times.
• Collaborate with BAS team members for program development.
• Support children's ongoing development and growth through best practices in educational and recreational programming, in alignment with CFIS' mission, vision and values.
• Maintain professional attitudes and loyalty to CFIS.
• Maintain confidentiality about children, their families, and other employees inside and outside of the school.
• Follow directions given by Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator of Licensing and Accreditation, Director of Early Childhood Education, and Principal of Elementary.
• Other duties as needed.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of Level 1 Child Care Worker is required. Level 2 Child Care Assistant or Level 3 Child Care Supervisor certification is preferred.
• Valid CPR & First Aid Certification.
• Strong English communication skills, fluency in French is an asset.
• Experience with children aged 5-12 is an asset.
• Experience leading educational and/or recreational programming and activities for groups of children.The successful applicant will need to provide a recent Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening prior to commencing work.

Compensation

As per theCFIS Hourly pay grid.
