NextGenEnergyJobs in Saskatchewan, Canada, is seeking a Research Associate to join the Slurry & Coating team. You will perform lab-scale slurry mixing, drawdown coating, and characterize slurries and coatings while generating data to inform materials development.

The role requires hands-on lab experience, a bachelor’s degree in chemistry/chemical engineering/materials science, and the ability to work with engineers to interpret structure–property relationships.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or materials science or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ months of full-time hands-on laboratory experience.
  • Experience with slurry mixing, drawdown coating, or rheometry is a plus.
  • Proficient in electronic documentation and data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Perform lab-scale slurry mixing and drawdown coating.
  • Characterize slurries and coatings (rheometry, particle size, density, thickness, adhesion).
  • Maintain records of work in an online sample management database.
  • Calibrate, operate, and troubleshoot characterization equipment.
  • Document results and communicate findings to scientists and engineers.
  • Collaborate with technicians, engineers, and scientists to troubleshoot issues.
  • Uphold safety: maintain clean work areas and handle hazardous materials appropriately.
