Job summary

Oak View Group is seeking a bartender in Hamilton to serve beverages at events. You must be personable, professional, and able to work in a fast-paced environment with excellent attendance and availability for events.

The role pays $18.73 CAD per hour and is tip eligible per the union agreement. Benefits are provided as per the union agreement, with a schedule that may include nights, weekends and long hours.

Qualifications

  • Six months or more experience bartending.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Bartending school preferred.
  • Accurate cash handling skills required.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to be self-directed while working in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the ability to meet the company standard for excellence in guest service and interactions.
  • Follow bar pre-shift notes and bar menus and provide service as described.
  • Serve alcoholic beverages following all proper procedures and regulations.
  • Learn or know various beer, wine, and spirits; upsell to guests.
  • Pour drinks responsibly and verify guest age per regulations.
  • Communicate cut-offs to guests as required.
  • Respond to guest requests or concerns; de-escalate intoxicated situations as needed.
  • Notify management if decisions exceed standard scope; contact security if required.
  • Restock products and manage bar inventory; maintain a clean workstation.

Position Summary

The Bartender is responsible for the service of all beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Must be personable, professional, and able to work in an ever-changing fast-paced environment. The employee must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work events as scheduled per business need.

This role pays an hourly rate of $18.73 CAD and is tip eligible (per CBA).

Benefits As Per The Union Agreement.
This position will remain open until December 25, 2026.
Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate the ability to meet the company standard for excellence in the areas of guest service, interaction with co-workers, and uniform standards.
  • Follow the bar pre-shift notes and bar menus and provide service as described.
  • Serve alcoholic beverages following all proper procedures for serving alcoholic drinks, including state/federal regulations pertaining to the distribution of alcohol.
  • Responsible for learning or having knowledge of various beer, wine varieties & spirits available and being able to learn to suggestively upsell products to guests.
  • Pour drinks responsibly in accordance with company standards for serving size.
  • Check the guest's ID in accordance with state/federal regulations to verify the minimum age requirement for the purchase of alcoholic beverages.
  • Communicate a cut-off to a guest as required.
  • Listening and responding to any customer requests or concerns.
  • Bartenders are expected to de-escalate intoxicated guest situations. If a guest becomes confrontational, belligerent, or uses extreme profanity, the bartender may contact management or security as required.
  • Contact a management member if unable to resolve or make a decision beyond the scope of standard decision-making.
  • Request additional products or restock products as needed.
  • Responsible for the issued bank at the bar.
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary workstation at all times. Ensures that bar equipment is clean and well maintained.
  • Other duties as assigned may include setting up and breaking down bar equipment as required and assisting with the organization of the cooler.
