Job summary

The City of Kingston is seeking a part-time Bartender at Grand Theatre to deliver high-quality bar service during live events. You will handle setup, inventory, cash handling, and event-related tasks in a fast-paced theatre environment.

Applicants must have Smart Serve certification and at least six months of bar service experience, plus a high school diploma or equivalent. The role requires adherence to liquor laws and strong customer service skills, with flexible hours up to 24 per week.

• Six months experience in bar service.

Responsibilities

• Perform bartending duties, including observing and adhering to all liquor liability laws.
• Have excellent working knowledge of liquors, beers and wines.
• Serve properly mixed and proportioned drinks, in a timely manner, to guests and servers.
• Monitor the intake of alcohol of patrons, prohibiting sale of alcohol to those who are intoxicated.
• Check identification of guests ensuring alcohol is being served only to those patrons of legal drinking age.
• Communicate with guests and respond to feedback in a positive manner, resolving any service issues.
• Responsible for daily bar set-up, ordering supplies, inventory control and restocking the bar.
• Oversee and schedule bartending staff.
• Check opening floats
• Responsible for completing cash-out and reconciliation procedures
• Prepare bank deposits
• Required to open, close and secure the building
• Assist with the set-up of special events
• Responsible for the general cleaning and maintenance of the bar area
• Other duties as assigned
