Job summary

D/6 Bar & Lounge in Vancouver, operated by Blau & Associates, seeks a skilled Bartender to craft cocktails and deliver memorable guest experiences in a fast-paced, high-volume setting. You will prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, greet guests, upsell, manage seating, and support bar operations while upholding safety and service standards.

Eligible candidates hold Serving It Right and FoodSafe Level 1, with a passion for hospitality and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Valid Serving It Right and Foodsafe Level 1 certificates.
  • Excellent command of English; second language a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of beer, wine, liquor and pairings.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Bartender is primarily responsible for the preparation and service of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage items to guests in a restaurant, lounge, patio or outlet. This position also acts as a food and beverage Server to any guests seated within the bar, lounge or patio. The Bartender assists with the reservation process, greeting and seating of guests, and clearing and resetting of designated areas. This position is responsible for following both company and facility policies and procedures. The Bartender will promote the Parq Vancouver facility and act as a positive role model and representative of Blau & Associates. The Bartender continually strives for 100% guest satisfaction.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Bartender is responsible for:

  • Working in collaboration with other Team Members and Departments to ensure the restaurant, lounge, patio or outlet operates in accordance with established operational procedures
  • Proper set-up, maintenance and adherence to scheduled duties, ensuring mise-en-place and par stock is maintained for all service related items
  • The preparation of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages using standardized drink recipes and presentation standards
  • Seating guests, taking/placing orders, preparing speciality items, serving food and beverage items, clearing, cleaning and resetting designated areas
  • Placing orders through designated POS systems, reviewing final checks and securing payment
  • Maintaining a composed and professional demeanor while providing exemplary guest service
  • Being aware of menu items, menu and operational changes and communicating the information as appropriate
  • Protecting the organization, guests and co-workers by adhering to applicable food, liquor safety and workplace standards, operational requirements and statutory compliance regulations
  • Ensuring that all property, furnishings, equipment and supplies are used according to proper instructions and intended use
  • All duties as assigned by the General Manager or their designated representative

QUALIFICATIONS

The Bartender must:

  • Have experience as a Bartender in a similar environment including a hotel, restaurant, catering or other fast paced high-volume establishment
  • Have valid Serving it Right and Foodsafe Level 1 certificates. Certificates in mixology would be considered an asset
  • Have an excellent command of both spoken and written English. Knowledge of a 2nd language would be considered an asset
  • Have a good understanding of beer, wine, liquor, non-alcoholic beverages, common drink recipes, basic food & beverage pairings or accompaniments, different cuisines and food preparation methods
  • Be able to upsell through detailed product knowledge and effectively handle all guest inquiries including food and beverage suggestions, dietary, food sensitivity or allergy requirements
  • Have solid problem solving, decision making, customer service, communication and sales skills
  • Accurately operate POS terminals, debit payment systems, Open Table and other computerized or electronic systems
  • Have the ability to handle inventory management, financial transactions, float management and proper product use to eliminate waste and spillage
  • Have detailed knowledge of the Vancouver area including Parq Vancouver amenities, services and local attractions
  • Be able to stand for extended periods of time, reach, bend and stoop repeatedly
  • Be able to frequently lift and carry up to 44 pounds
