The CAMH Therapeutic Neighbourhood is seeking a part-time, contract (until March 2026) Barber/Hairstylist to provide services to a new initiative providing skilled in-house haircuts and hairstyles to CAMH patients. This initiative, “Mobile Cut and Style”, is supported by Gifts of Light and Employment Works.
Reporting to the Manager of the CAMH Therapeutic Neighbourhood, the Barber will operate out of the TN for appointments and will visit CAMH inpatients, who have an appointment to get a haircut or hairstyle on their units with the support of CAMH clinicians,
Responsibilities will include:
The successful candidate will have one year of experience providing personal care services, including hair styling and haircutting services. Completion of a hairstyling apprentice program or completion of a college or other program in hairstyling is required. Experience working with people who have received mental health and/or addiction services is an asset. The ideal candidate will also bring possess excellent customer service skills, demonstrate keen attention to detail, and strong organization and time management skills. Experience working with diverse clientele including cutting and styling black hair is a requirement. Lastly, the ability to work effectively in a wide range of settings, with individuals from diverse backgrounds, is a must.
