Job summary

Red Deer Resort & Casino in Central Alberta is seeking a casual Server/Bartender to provide friendly, efficient service in a fast-paced environment. Under the supervision of Banquet Manager and Captains, you will setup tables and bar areas, serve beverages, and attend to food orders with courtesy.

Applicants must have ProServe certification (AGLC), strong English communication, and the ability to multitask while maintaining high service standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED.
• 1–2 years of serving, bartending, banquet, or food and beverage experience.
• Ability to transport food and beverage trays up to 25 pounds and stand/walk for prolonged periods.
• ProServe certification (AGLC) required.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills; able to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Set up tables and bar areas for assigned functions.
• Retrieve, prepare and serve beverages and food orders.
• Greet guests and assist with seating and service.
• Maintain knowledge of menus, prices, and beverage selections.
• Follow provincial liquor regulations at all times.

We are currently looking for customer-focused, energetic, organized and professional individuals who want to work in a fast-paced environment to fill the Casual position of Server/Bartender. Under the guidance of the Banquet Manager and Captains, the Server/Bartender is responsible for the setup of assigned tables and bar areas, retrieving, preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, in addition to serving food orders to guest tables in a courteous and efficient manner. Successful candidates must have superior customer service and multitasking skills as well as the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain knowledge of service requirements such as menu selections, ingredients, prices, beverage selections, station assignments and table settings.
• Be aware of group name, type of function, expected attendance, scheduled hours of service and arrange for special requests.
• Maintain knowledge of, and strictly abide by, provincial liquor regulations.
• Perform setup, serving, bartending and cleaning duties.
• Greet guests as they arrive and assist them with seating.
• Take guests' food and beverage orders, utilizing suggestive selling techniques when specified on function requirements.
• Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with established service standards.
• Set up, stock and maintain bar and beverage service areas.
• Be familiar with all hotel services, features, local attractions and activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately and promptly.
• Maintain clean and organized meeting, banquet, bar and service areas.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Banquet Manager or Banquet Captain.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Minimum high school diploma or GED.
• One to two years of related serving, bartending, banquet, or food and beverage experience in a fast-paced environment preferred.
• Ability to transport food and beverage trays of up to 25 pounds and stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
• Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision.
• Proven communication (written and verbal) and customer service skills and experience.
• Ability to work well under pressure.
• Excellent work ethic; driven, organized, dependable and flexible, with availability to pick up or volunteer for shifts as required to maintain operational requirements.
• Must be fluent in English, both written and verbal, with the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Up-to-date ProServe Certification (through AGLC) required.

Hours of Work:

The hours of work for this Casual position will vary depending on operational requirements and may include day, evening, weekend and public holiday shifts.
