Job summary

Red Deer Resort & Casino is seeking a casual Houseman/Dishwasher to support banquet operations in a fast-paced hotel setting. You will assist with setup/cleanup of function spaces, move and arrange banquet furniture, and maintain dishwashing areas.

The role requires strong organization, reliability, and teamwork, with a focus on safety and cleanliness during events. English fluency and Alberta ProServe certification are essential.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid and up-to-date Alberta ProServe certification.
• Previous experience in a fast-paced, banquet, hospitality, housekeeping, dishwashing, or similar environment is preferred.
• Food Safety Certification is considered an asset.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to follow Health & Safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Wash all pots, pans, inserts, dishes, utensils, and banquet equipment.
• Ensure dishes, supplies, and equipment are properly cleaned and stored in designated areas.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of banquet dishwashing and back-of-house areas, including floors.
• Assist with the setup and cleanup of banquet, meeting, and function rooms.
• Move, organize, and store banquet furniture, equipment, and supplies safely.
• Assist the Banquet team with room resets and changes based on event requirements.
• Clean and organize all related work areas and equipment.
• Set up dishwashing machines at the beginning of shifts and properly shut them down at the end of shifts.
• Follow established health, safety, sanitation, and safe equipment-handling procedures.

We are currently seeking a Houseman/Dishwasher (Casual). The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates strong organizational skills, and works effectively as part of a team with a positive and energetic attitude. This position supports banquet operations by assisting with the setup and cleanup of function spaces, moving and organizing banquet equipment, and maintaining cleanliness in dishwashing and back-of-house areas.

Key Responsibilities:

• Wash all pots, pans, inserts, dishes, utensils, and banquet equipment.
• Ensure dishes, supplies, and equipment are properly cleaned and stored in designated areas.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of banquet dishwashing and back-of-house areas, including floors.
• Assist with the setup and cleanup of banquet, meeting, and function rooms.
• Assist with setting up and taking down tables, chairs, and other banquet equipment as required.
• Move, organize, and store banquet furniture, equipment, and supplies safely.
• Assist the Banquet team with room resets and changes based on event requirements.
• Clean and organize all related work areas and equipment.
• Maintain sanitation solutions in accordance with company standards.
• Set up dishwashing machines at the beginning of shifts and properly shut them down at the end of shifts.
• Troubleshoot minor dishwashing machine issues and report equipment concerns as needed.
• Ensure hallways, storage areas, service areas, and other assigned back-of-house areas remain clean, organized, and free of hazards.
• Follow established health, safety, sanitation, and safe equipment-handling procedures.
• Keep Banquet Management informed of any issues, damaged equipment, shortages, or irregularities.
• Assist Banquet Servers, Captains, and other team members as required during events.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Banquet Manager or designate.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Ability to follow Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Ability to safely handle and move banquet furniture, equipment, and supplies.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
• Reliable, flexible, and able to work varied shifts as required.
• Must be fluent in English (written and verbal).
• Clear criminal record check required upon hire.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout a shift.
• Ability to frequently lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to safely move tables, chairs, banquet equipment, and supplies.
• Continuous use of manual dexterity and motor skills.
• Ability to bend, kneel, reach, crouch, push, pull, and perform repetitive tasks.

Hours of Work:

Hours for this Casual position will vary based on operational requirements and may include day, evening, late-night, weekend, and public holiday shifts.
