Job summary

Aramark, operating Carleton Dining Services, is hiring full-time Banquet Captains to coordinate catering for events on the Carleton University campus in Ottawa. You will report to the Catering Manager and oversee setup, service quality, and staff supervision for internal and external groups.

The role requires at least 2 years of catering experience, strong organizational and customer service skills, and a valid Smart Serve certification and driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years catering experience/background.
• Perform well under pressure; manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Effective team management experience.
• Exceptional customer service, interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate catering functions and events for internal and external clients/groups.
• Ensure that food and service meet quality control standards.
• Responsible for the execution of the function/event from beginning to end.
• Supervise staff, including agency staff if required.
• Conduct pre-shift rally/meetings.
• Provide clear instructions to staff; ensuring tasks are completed in a timely manner and according to customer expectations.
• Assure quality, courteous service is provided to customers at all times.
• In conjunction with the Assistant Manager, train staff on job duties and Aramark catering standards.
• Operate automobiles, vans and light trucks to deliver and pick up food items, while ensuring safety standards are continually practiced and adhered to.
• Ensure catering room is kept in an organized and clean fashion.
• Ensure adherence to all of Aramark Policies and Procedures.
• May perform other job duties as required.
