Job summary

The Americana Conference Resort & Spa seeks skilled bartenders to prepare and serve beverages at events, ensuring guest satisfaction and adherence to liquor laws. You will interact with guests, take orders, and provide recommendations while maintaining a clean, well-stocked bar.

Responsibilities include checking IDs, processing payments, assisting with setup/breakdown, and upholding safety policies and high service standards during events and banquets.

Qualifications

• Bartending and serving experience is required.
• Valid Smart Serve Certification required.
• Some high school education.
• Experience in banquet, hotel, restaurant, or events is an asset.
• Knowledge of food, wine, beer, spirits, and other beverages.
• Strong knowledge of responsible alcohol service practices.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to guests in a professional and timely manner.
• Interact with guests, take beverage orders, and provide recommendations based on guest preferences.
• Check guests’ identification and ensure they meet the legal drinking age requirements.
• Follow all applicable Provincial Liquor Control laws and Smart Serve requirements.
• Operate the cash register and accurately process beverage payments.
• Balance cash receipts and report any discrepancies to the appropriate Supervisor or Manager.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked bar throughout the event.
• Clean glasses, utensils, bar equipment, and work areas as required.
• Monitor beverage inventory and notify the Supervisor or Manager when supplies need to be replenished.
• Assist with the setup and breakdown of banquet functions as required.
• Lay applicable table linen and assist with setting dishes, china, glassware, and silverware.
• Prepare coffee/tea stations and fill water pitchers when required.
• Prepare items to be placed on tables, such as salt and pepper, sugar bowls, rolls and butter, salad dressing, and other event requirements.
• Assist with serving meals and beverages to guests as required.
• Provide guests with information about meals and beverages being served.
• Attend to guests with special needs and communicate any dietary requirements to the appropriate team members.
• Refill water and other beverage glasses as required.
• Clear tables throughout the meal and return dishes and cutlery to the kitchen.
• Assist in keeping banquet facilities neat, clean, and presentable at all times.
• Complete opening and closing procedures as required.
• Bring any guest concerns, questions, or suggestions to the attention of the Supervisor or Manager immediately.
• Ensure all safety regulations, company policies, and procedures are followed.
• Maintain the highest level of customer service and professionalism at all times.
• Professionally represent the Americana Conference Resort & Spa and the Food & Beverage Department at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Banquet Manager.

Professional Qualifications

• Bartending and serving experience.
• Valid Smart Serve Certification required.
• Some high school education.
• Previous banquet, hotel, restaurant, or event-service experience is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of food, wine, beer, spirits, and other beverages.
• Strong knowledge of responsible alcohol service practices.
