Job summary

Wonderbrands in the Greater Toronto Area is seeking a Project Engineer – Capital Projects to join our Engineering team. You will manage a diverse portfolio of capital projects across bakery facilities in Canada, from concept through commissioning and handover.

This hands-on role delivers major infrastructure upgrades, new equipment installations, and production-line improvements designed to strengthen capacity and reliability. Occasional weekend work may be required to meet timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial, civil engineering or related field.
• 3–4+ years of engineering and capital project experience, preferably in food manufacturing.
• Experience managing capital projects from concept through commissioning.
• Knowledge of industrial facilities, utilities, and construction.
• Experience with contractors, consultants, equipment manufacturers and suppliers.
• Strong planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel periodically to bakery locations across Canada.
• PMP or other project management certification.
• Experience with bakery, food processing, manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support multiple capital projects across bakery facilities in Canada.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, business cases and execution strategies.
• Manage projects through all phases from concept to commissioning and handover.
• Coordinate engineering consultants, contractors, equipment suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
• Prepare equipment specifications, layouts, drawings, quotations, and documentation.
• Ensure projects are executed safely and in line with Canadian codes.
• Lead equipment installation, commissioning and startup.
