Our range of hospitality services includes work-camp staffing and management, culinary services, utility services, communications and maintenance, snow removal, event coordination, and lifestyle programs.

Torch Industries Ltd. is seeking Baker/Breakfast Cooks who have a hands-on approach to their work and provide a high level of service to clients.

Job Description:

The Baker / Breakfast Cook provides leadership for the night shift and ensures that baked goods meet contractual standards. Successful candidates must be able to prepare a variety of baked products and handle the morning food production for our clients' daily breakfast service. Preference will be given to candidates who can bake from scratch.

All successful candidates must be safety-focused and willing to meet all client and Torch safety practices when in the field.


Job Duties:

  • Participate daily in site safety requirements and meetings.
  • Maintain personal hygiene and uniform cleanliness throughout the shift as per standards.
  • Meet daily with the Chef to discuss production requirements and strategies for baked items.
  • Prepare and serve breakfast choices as per contractual commitments, including scrambled eggs, omelets, pancakes, French toast, hot cereals, breakfast meats, and potato varietals.
  • Batch cook to ensure freshness and made-to-order items off the grill.
  • Defrost stock for upcoming production according to HACCP methods and safety procedures.
  • Unload, store, and rotate stock according to HACCP and company-approved methods.
  • Oversee, direct, and be responsible for all night kitchen support staff involved in meeting operational requirements.
  • Store and use leftover foods according to HACCP and company-approved methods, ensuring products are labeled.
  • Keep kitchen and work areas clean and sanitized at all times.
  • Ensure the dining room is ready for morning service with all items filled as required.
  • Minimize food spoilage and waste.
  • Maintain proper temperatures for stored and prepared foods.
  • Assist with production, loading, and organization of the rig box as directed.
  • Assist with unloading/loading weekly grocery deliveries.
  • Help set up and tear down camp.
  • Assist with weekly/monthly inventories as required.
  • Wear the required uniform and PPE, including kitchen attire, slip-resistant footwear, and hair covering.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the site supervisor.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Literate in English with reading and writing competency.
  • Remote camp experience of at least 3 years in an equivalent role.
  • Ability to operate all industrial kitchen equipment, including grills, ovens, fryers, and mixers.
