Job summary

Bridgemans Services Group is seeking a skilled Baker to join our onboard kitchen crew aboard the MV Saga X, alongside Squamish, BC. This rotational position offers 28 days on and 14 days off, with an hourly wage and meals provided.

You will lead bakery and pastry prep, maintain food safety standards, and collaborate with the Chef to deliver high-quality, on-brand dishes for residents and crew while ensuring efficient service on board.

Qualifications

• Culinary diploma or related training preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of culinary techniques and food prep.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask in fast-paced kitchen.
• Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Valid MED Domestic Vessel Safety, Crowd and Crisis Management, and marine medical certificates (employer support).

Responsibilities

• Organize and manage bakery, pastry buffet, and Grab n’ Go prep.
• Prepare a work checklist and arrange workstation per shift.
• Perform basic cleaning and sanitize workstations.
• Maintain chiller, dough equipment, ranges, ovens, and tools.
• Requisition food with Chef approval.
• Tag each item with product name and date.
• Communicate with team and assist in handovers.
• Maintain hygiene and safety on board.

Schedule

Getting you to and from thefloatelis completely seamless and stress-free. Bridgemans pays for your flights (from major Canadian cities) and transportation to and from the project site, ensuring your travel is fully arranged and supported for every shift rotation. Rotational schedulemay vary by department but is typically 28 days on/14 days off.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Sous Chef, responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Organize and manage bakery, pastry buffet & Grab n’ Go preparation and service as per menu.
• Prepare a work checklist and organize the workstation for each shift
• Performing basic cleaning duties and ensuring that workstations are properly sanitized
• Maintain the chiller and temperature records and properly care for the dough machine, sheeter, proofer, ranges, ovens, boilers, fryers, griddles, utensils, and other equipment
• Requisition of food with necessary approval by the Chef
• Each prepared item must be tagged with the product name and date accordingly
• Accommodate any urgent request by the Chef, prioritizing throughout the day
• Proper PPE must always be worn whenever required
• Communicate effectively with coworkers and staff, participating in team goals
• Before signing off, prepare proper handover notes for the new crew
• Maintain high personal hygiene during duty hours and while staying on board
• You are responsible for your health and safety

Qualifications

• A culinary diploma or related training may be preferred
• Extensive knowledge of culinary techniques, food preparation, and presentation
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and the ability to ensure compliance.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
• Required to hold valid MED Domestic Vessel Safety certificate, Crowd and Crisis Management certificate, marine medical certificate, which employer will support arranging and subsidizing
