Job summary

Venue Kings is seeking a Software Engineer - Backend and Data Integrations to join our growing technology team in North Vancouver, BC. You will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of our platform, focusing on backend services, data ingestion workflows, and third-party integrations.

You will work with Go or Python, leverage AWS serverless architectures, and design APIs while ensuring data security and efficient data processing.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional software development experience involving production systems.
• Proficiency with Go or Python and ability to work in both languages.
• Experience designing and integrating APIs, services, and asynchronous backend workflows.
• Hands-on with AWS serverless architectures (Lambda, S3, event-driven/queue-based services) and CloudWatch.
• Strong relational DB skills, schema design and query optimization; experience with caching and NoSQL stores like Redis and DynamoDB.
• Observability practices: structured logging, metrics, tracing, alerts.
• Git workflows, automated testing, and CI/CD practices.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Contribute throughout the software development lifecycle from planning to maintenance.
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code using modern frameworks and technologies.
• Evolve systems via modernization, refactoring, tests, and reducing technical debt.
• Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to design and deliver features, APIs, and integrations.
• Utilize AI-assisted tools while protecting confidential data and reviewing outputs before shipping.
• Troubleshoot production issues and optimize performance; participate in code reviews and improve tests and documentation.
