Job summary

Elastify, a Toronto-based private equity firm, is expanding its engineering team and seeking a Junior Backend Engineer to build scalable backend services for in-house SaaS platforms and analytics tools. You will design APIs and data flows with Product, Frontend, and Backend teams, translating business and financial requirements into clean, reliable services.

Bring 1–5 years of backend experience, strong Python skills, and solid knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and RESTful APIs.

Qualifications

• 1–5 years of experience building production-grade software applications, ideally backend.
• Strong Python and object-oriented programming skills.
• Experience with microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and clean code.
• Experience with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL).

What You’ll Do

• Build and maintain backend services and microservices supporting in-house private equity SaaS platforms and analytics tools.


• Develop scalable, reliable backend applications using Python and modern software engineering practices.


• Work closely with Product, Frontend, and Backend Engineering to design APIs, data flows, and technical solutions.


• Translate complex business and financial requirements into clean, maintainable backend services.


• Contribute to the architecture and development of new products and features in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment.


• Integrate APIs, data services, and emerging AI-driven capabilities into production applications.


• Troubleshoot, optimize, and continuously improve backend systems for performance, scalability, and reliability.


• Have the opportunity to contribute across the technology stack and gain exposure to modern cloud, AI, and full-stack development practices.

Qualifications:

• 1–5 years of experience building production-grade software applications, ideally with a focus on backend development.


• Strong hands-on experience with Python and object-oriented programming.


• Experience building or contributing to microservices and RESTful APIs.


• Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and clean code principles.


• Experience with databases and data-driven applications, ideally with SQL and/or NoSQL technologies.


• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take ownership of work in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.


• Experience at a reputable technology company or engineering-driven organization is preferred.


• Exposure to AI development tools and emerging technologies is preferred.


• Full-stack development experience is a nice-to-have.
