We’re coming off a strong year and are setting even higher ambitions for the future. To help us reach the next level, we’re looking for a Back-end Development Lead to join our team.

As a Back-end Development Lead, you will report to the Senior Software Development Lead and take a leadership role in designing and building robust, scalable back-end systems that power our cloud-native solutions for the oil and gas industry. In this position, you will guide a team of developers, mentoring them in both their technical capabilities and professional growth. You’ll work with modern cloud technologies, data pipelines, and microservices to solve complex problems and drive technical innovation.

Beyond your technical contributions, you’ll help shape team culture, foster collaboration, and ensure alignment with broader company goals. You’ll play a key role in building a high-performance engineering environment where team members feel empowered to deliver impactful, reliable, and efficient solutions for our customers.

We’re looking for a strong technical leader with a passion for coaching and mentorship—someone who can drive engineering excellence, champion best practices, and bring thoughtful leadership to a growing team.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable, high-performance application software for our cloud-native platform, aligning with business goals.
  • Drive the evolution of our micro-services and APIs, taking ownership of architecture and technical decisions to enhance functionality and customer impact.
  • Work independently and collaboratively to deliver impactful features, ensuring high-quality delivery while managing team dynamics and timelines.
  • Build and lead end-to-end features across cloud, web, and mobile infrastructure, ensuring smooth integration and cohesive technical direction.
  • Leverage open-source technologies and advocate for open standards, balancing innovation with long-term maintainability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Data Science, Product, DevOps) to align technical direction, prioritize features, and refine customer solutions.
  • Contribute to technical documentation and best practices, fostering knowledge sharing to support team growth and continuous improvement.
  • Experiment with new technologies and rapid feedback loops to drive innovation, keeping the team on the cutting edge.
  • Drive Agile development to ensure efficient execution, high-quality deliverables, and continuous iteration.
  • Establish coding standards, design patterns, and technical practices to maintain consistency and quality across projects.
  • Manage team alignment and execution, tracking progress and adjusting priorities to meet project goals.
  • Champion a high-performance engineering culture, promoting accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Guide team members’ technical and leadership growth, helping them navigate challenges and achieve career goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of experience in taking a feature from concept to delivery and support.
  • Working knowledge of React frameworks like NextJS and the concept of server-side rendering.
  • Understanding the nature of asynchronous programming and its quirks and workarounds.
  • Experience with Kafka and event-driven architecture.
  • Experience with non-relational data stores such as MongoDB, Cassandra, etc.
  • Experience with SQL-based database systems such as SQL Server, Snowflake, etc.
  • Experience with cloud computing, specifically AWS.
  • Understanding fundamental design principles behind a scalable application.
  • Experience addressing challenges and driving team success through mentorship, guidance, and a focus on delivering impactful solutions.
  • Proven ability to lead and guide teams through complex projects, from initial concept to successful delivery, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical requirements.
  • BS/MS in engineering, computer science, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Proven leadership experience, mentoring and guiding teams to success while delivering impactful solutions.
