Job summary

AgeCare Jasper Place in Edmonton, Alberta is seeking a part-time Recreation Aide to plan and implement resident-centered recreation and leisure programs in line with care plans. You will work with the Recreation Manager and Executive Director to create engaging activities that promote social connection and wellbeing.

The role requires a Diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Gerontology, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Gerontology, or related field (required), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Previous experience working with seniors in recreation, health care, or community setting is considered an asset.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage residents, families, and the team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, coordination, and delivery of engaging recreation and leisure programs.
• Create a welcoming, inclusive environment that encourages resident participation, social connection, and overall well-being.
• Support resident assessments and ongoing evaluation of engagement, preferences, and program effectiveness.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including resident participation records, program notes, and required departmental charting.
• Facilitate resident participation in scheduled programs, special events, and community outings, including transportation support as required.
