Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. in Ontario is seeking an AZ/DZ Operator – Organics to support the liquids/organics team by safely operating equipment and transporting waste between client sites, including tanker operations.

The role requires completing detailed paperwork and maintaining compliance with MTO regulations. Ideal candidates have 3+ years of driving/operator experience, an AZ/DZ license with air brake endorsement, and a willingness to obtain the Nutrient Management Technician course.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of driver/operator experience preferred.
• AZ/DZ license with air brake endorsement and current abstracts, CVOR (no demerits).
• Must obtain Nutrient Management Technician online course through University of Guelph.
• Solid written communication skills for required paperwork.
• Strong verbal communication to interact with customers and internal teams.
• Ability to learn and operate heavy machinery, with willingness to train.

Responsibilities

• Operate motorized vehicles to move material between client sites.
• Operate a tanker and load/unload trucks.
• Complete pre/post trip inspections, manifests, log books and other documents legibly.
• Ensure equipment and systems meet GFL standards and follow MTO regulations.
• Adhere to Environmental and Health & Safety policies.

Job description

The AZ/ DZ Operator – Organics will support the liquids/ organics team to provide exceptional service to our clients. The role will be responsible for safely operating and/or have the ability to operate various equipment to assist in the collection of various liquid and solid wastes.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate motorized vehicles to move material between client sites.
• Must be familiar and demonstrate the ability to operate a tanker.
• Accurately complete numerous and various documents, including pre/post trip inspections, manifests, log books, VCRs, etc., in a legible manner to meet compliance requirements.
• Ensure that all equipment and systems are operated as per GFL standards.
• Knowledge of MTO regulations.
• Drivers are required to adhere to all Environmental and Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Load and unload trucks.
• Knowledge of the Nutrient Management Regulation.
• Willingness to obtain required licensing.
• Perform other duties assigned.

Requirements

• Three (3) years of driver/operator experience is preferred.
• High school diploma, General Education Degree (GED) or equivalent
• Must possess an AZ/DZ license (minimum class D license with air brake endorsement) and submit current abstracts, personal and CVOR (no demerits).
• Must obtain a Nutrient Management Technician online course administered through the University of Guelph.
• Must have solid written communication skills in order to complete required paperwork.
• Must have good verbal communication skills to be able to interact with internal and external customers.
• Prior experience operating heavy machinery typical within a mining environment, including farm in an agricultural environment is a definite asset. However, we are willing to train potential candidates who demonstrate a willingness to learn.
• Must be able to exercise good judgment and think proactively.
• Excellent customer service skills, with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
