Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. in Oakville, Ontario is seeking an AZ/DZ Operator - Organics to support the liquids/organics team in safely operating equipment for hazardous waste collection.

You will drive and operate tanker equipment, complete required paperwork, and ensure all safety and regulatory standards are met while delivering reliable service to our clients.

Training is available for candidates with willingness to learn, with emphasis on accuracy, safety, and compliance with industry regulations.

Qualifications

• Three years of driver/operator experience preferred.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Must possess an AZ license and submit current abstracts, CVOR (no demerit points).
• Strong written communication skills to complete required paperwork.
• Strong verbal communication skills for customer interactions.
• Prior experience operating heavy machinery, including farm equipment in an agricultural environment; training available.

Responsibilities

• Accurately complete pre/post trip inspections, manifests, log books, VCRs, etc., to meet compliance requirements.
• Ensure that all equipment and systems are operated per GFL standards.
• Knowledge of Reg. 347/558, WMHIS, MTO regulations.
• Adhere to Environmental and Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Load and unload trucks.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The AZ/ DZ Operator - Organics will support the liquids/ organics team to provide exceptional service to our clients. The role will be responsible for safely operating and/or have the ability to operate various equipment to assist in the collection of various liquid and solid hazardous wastes.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate motorized vehicles to move material between client sites.
• Must be familiar and demonstrate ability to operate a tanker.
• Accurately complete numerous and various documents, including pre/post trip inspections, manifests, log books, VCRs, etc., in a legible manner to meet compliance requirements.
• Ensure that all equipment and systems are operated as per GFL standards.
• Knowledge of Reg. 347/558, WMHIS, MTO regulations.
• Drivers are required to adhere to all Environmental and Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Load and unload trucks.
• Perform other duties assigned.

Requirements

• Three (3) years of driver/operator experience is preferred.
• High school diploma, General Education Degree (GED) or equivalent.
• Must possess an AZ license and submit current abstracts, personal and CVOR (no demerit points).
• Must have solid written communication skills in order to complete required paperwork.
• Must have exceptional verbal communication skills to be able to interact with internal and external customers.
• Prior experience operating heavy machinery, including farm in an agricultural environment is a definite asset. However, we are willing to train potential candidates who demonstrate a willingness to learn.
