Job summary

The Calgary John Howard Society is hiring an Awake Overnight Youth Worker for Raido House in Calgary. This term-certain, part-time role covers 30 hours per week from Thursday to Saturday, 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., with a contract through June 27, 2027.

You will support youth aged 15–24, focusing on housing stability, daily living skills, education and employment connections, safer substance use, and navigating systems. A Police Information Check and Child Intervention Record Check are required.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree or diploma from a recognized educational institution.
• 2+ years supporting at-risk individuals facing homelessness.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-paced environments that require creativity and ongoing troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Creatively supporting and supervising the youth of Raido House within a single staff model in a trauma‑informed, home‑like environment.
• Role modelling healthy behavior and developing plans to increase independent living skills.
• Collaborating with Residential and Outreach Caseworkers to implement youth goal plans.
• Navigate routine and crisis situations with a restorative approach.
• Create opportunities for youth to engage in programming (recreation, education, art therapy, community involvement).
• Complete all documentation—referrals, assessments, crisis plans, risk assessments, case notes, letters of support.
• Attend to team responsibilities including participation, communication and a positive attitude.
• Maintain the residential environment with cleaning and organizing duties.
