Annapolis Valley Regional Centre for Education is seeking Spare Bus Drivers for part-time, on-call operations across Annapolis Valley, West Hants, Kings and Annapolis Counties. Responsibilities include driving school buses with air brakes on routes and events, ensuring passenger safety and conduct, and performing pre-trip inspections.

Applicants must be 19+, hold a Class 2B license with air brake endorsement, have a clean driving record and up-to-date medical/vision tests.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 19 years of age.
• Current Nova Scotia Operator’s License Class 2B with air brake endorsement.
• Clean driving record.
• Up-to-date medical and vision tests.
• Possess good communication skills and interact courteously with students, parents/guardians, and staff.
• Upload Driver Abstract with application.

Wage: $28.82/hr

Individuals who enjoy driving and working with children may be interested in working as a Spare Bus Driver!

Spare School Bus Drivers are required on an “as needed” basis to support operations in the Annapolis Valley Centre for Education, throughout West Hants, Kings and Annapolis Counties. School buses travel on paved and unpaved roads in a variety of weather. Spare Bus Drivers are on call for a part-year (during September - June) and part-time (5 hours per day) and typically drive a morning and/or afternoon run for instructional days. Spare Bus Drivers may also opt to drive hours for extra- or co-curricular events.

Spare Bus Drivers safely drive school buses with air brakes on assigned routes and extra-curricular trips, are responsible for the safety and discipline of passengers, daily routine maintenance including cleaning and washing, pre-trip inspection of the vehicle, and compliance with all AVRCEand government policies, regulations, and legislation.

Spare Bus Drivers must be a minimum of 19 years of age, have a current Nova Scotia Operator’s License Class 2B with air brake endorsement, a clean driving record, and up-to-date medical and vision tests. They should possess good communication skills, demonstrate reliability and interact courteously and professionally with students, parents/guardians, and staff.
