Profile
The Avionics Engineer is responsible for developing engineering data packages to support aircraft modifications' development and certification. This includes engineering design, technical analysis, and airworthiness certification activities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare and define Technical Requirement Documents and Engineering Technical Assessments.
- Evaluate vendor technical proposals and internal Program Change Requests.
- Prepare Design Change Proposals.
- Review and approve vendor requirement specifications, design documentation, engineering drawings, modification summaries, and vendor equipment qualification reports.
- Support aircraft test programs, including writing Test Definition Sheets, aircraft equipment integration, witnessing tests, and reviewing test reports.
- Prepare technical reports demonstrating compliance with certification requirements and ensure aircraft avionics airworthiness per regulations.
- Manage avionic supply chain relationships through technical meetings and Engineering Coordination Memos.
- Support aircraft production with problem solving and snag resolution.
- Assist in-service aircraft by creating and reviewing engineering modification packages, supporting Service Bulletin development, and addressing in-service difficulty reports.
- Supervise and mentor less experienced Engineers within the department.
Education and Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master's degree in aerospace or Electrical Engineering.
- Current or aspiring Aircraft Certification Delegate AP / DAR preferred.
Experience
- At least 10 years' experience in aircraft electrical and avionics modifications' design, installation, integration, testing, and certification.
- Minimum 5 years supporting airworthiness certification under TCCA framework, with knowledge of system design, testing, and certification of auto flight, communication, navigation, FMS, indication/recording, cabin, and onboard maintenance systems.
- Knowledge of ARP4754, ARP4761, and EWIS is advantageous.
- Understanding of FAR Part 23 & 25 avionics regulations and advisory materials.
- Familiarity with industry standards like SAE, RTCA, ARP, and working relationships with TCCA, EASA, or FAA.
Skills
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience with AutoCAD, CATIA, and SOLIDWORKS.
- Proven track record in aircraft modification design and certification.
- Strong technical writing, time management, and project tracking skills.
