Job summary

Transport Canada in Ottawa, Ontario is seeking a Civil Aviation Safety Inspection to design and integrate regulations, standards and policies for commercial flight operations and to participate in international regulatory activities.

The role involves providing expert technical advice to management, supporting safety management systems, and travelling domestically and internationally as needed, including overtime and weekend work.

Qualifications

• Written communication ability
• Oral communication ability
• Knowledge of Canadian Civil Aviation legislation (Aeronautics Act, CARs and standards)
• Dedicated experience as helicopter flight crew member on offshore operations
• Secondary school diploma or equivalent education/experience
• Experience in Safety Management Systems environments
• Willingness to work overtime, irregular hours and weekends
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and integrate regulations, standards, and policies governing commercial flight operations
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Canadian regulatory framework
• Participate with foreign civil aviation authorities and international bodies on new technologies and methodologies
• Provide expert technical advice, support, and recommendations to management on handling of functional, cross-functional, high-profile matters
