Job summary

Metmtl in Canada is seeking a Director – Security and Compliance who will plan, manage, and ensure aviation safety regulatory compliance across CARs, OHS, and environmental standards.

Reporting to the Senior Director – Operations, you will lead the Airport Operations Manual updates, oversee SMS performance, training programs, staff supervision, tenders, budget monitoring, and strategic implementation with Transport Canada, NAV CANADA and partners.

Qualifications

• University degree in airport management, business administration, or a related field.
• Significant experience (minimum 5 years) in a similar position, ideally in the airport or transportation sector, preferably in an SMS management, quality assurance, or similar role.
• Excellent management, leadership, and communication skills.
• Relevant experience managing a management system and/or quality management system (ISO standards).
• In-depth knowledge of aviation regulations and airport safety and environmental standards.
• Ability to make informed decisions and solve complex problems. Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
• Valid driver’s licence (Class 4A, or the ability to obtain one).

Responsibilities

• Regulatory compliance with CARs, OHS, and environmental requirements.
• Update and implement Airport Operations Manual, SMS, QA, and SOPs.
• Act as Emergency Coordination Centre Director when on duty.
• Collaborate with departments to ensure day-to-day activities meet regulatory standards.
• Develop safety performance indicators and manage SMS performance.
• Define regulatory framework with Construction and Capital Investment Planning.
• Monitor QA schedule and regulatory training.
• Maintain awareness of Canadian regulations relating to environment and airport operations.
• Produce SMS and safety performance reports.
• Engage with Transport Canada, NAV CANADA, and stakeholders.
• Develop and implement training programs.
• Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate staff.
• Represent the airport at meetings and negotiations.
• Manage tenders for the department under governance framework.
• Monitor budget for regulatory activities and coordinate with Accounting.
• Contribute to defining airport strategy and implementation plan.
