Job summary

University of the Fraser Valley seeks an energetic Technician I, Audio Visual to ensure high-quality AV support in UFV classrooms and meeting spaces. The role focuses on 1st level assessment of AV issues, assisting with installation, maintenance, and documentation to uphold standards across campus locations.

The ideal candidate has a relevant diploma, 5+ years of related experience, and familiarity with AV cabling formats and multiple systems.

Qualifications

• Diploma in instructional media or Computer Science or related field from a recognized post-secondary institution.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a related position is required.
• Certifications such as CTS, Crestron, Extron, Polycom, Biamp, or QSC are assets.
• Demonstrated professional knowledge of video and audio cabling formats (HDBaseT, HDMI, DVI, SDI, VGA, etc.), computer network technologies and topology.
• Basic troubleshooting knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Mac operating systems.
• Excellent working knowledge of various AV systems and technologies.
• Excellent change control practices with attention to detail.
• Experience defining and writing technical recommendations and documentation.
• Time management and organizational skills.
• Commitment to client service and continuous learning.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1st level AV support for classrooms and meeting spaces.
• Escalate complex incidents to AV Technician II as needed.
• Install and maintain AV equipment across UFV campus locations.
• Document technical recommendations and changes following best practices.
