Job summary

St. Joseph's Health System (SJHS) in Hamilton seeks a Nurse Practitioner (NP) for the Inpatient Medical Services team at West 5th Campus. You will autonomously provide integrated medical care to inpatients, collaborating with physicians and the care team on histories, exams, and ongoing disease management.

The role emphasizes ethical practice, leadership, and translation of evidence into patient care, within the Mental Health and Addiction Program and the broader inpatient unit.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in the RN-EC with NP-PHC or Adult specialty.
• Masters Degree in Nursing.
• Proof of successful completion of controlled substances education.
• Faculty appointment or eligibility for appointment with a School of Nursing.
• Demonstrated clinical expertise with mental illness or addiction is an asset.
• RNAO/NPAO/CNA membership preferred; CNA mental health certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide autonomous, evidence-informed medical care to inpatients in the Mental Health and Addiction Program.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team; conduct histories and physical exams.
• Offer acute and chronic disease management throughout patient admissions.
• Engage in ethical/legal practice and maintain required documentation and handovers.
