CSN Alaska Hi-way in Fort St. John, BC, seeks an experienced Automotive Service Technician for minor tune-ups, tire work, wheel alignments, and diagnostic tasks. The ideal candidate is a journeyperson with own tools and a strong safety mindset.

You will work with computer diagnostic programs and perform electrical, steering, suspension, and A/C repairs, including ADAS as needed, with road testing before and after service. Fort St. John offers a dynamic shop environment.

Qualifications

  • Journeyperson Automotive Service Technician / Mechanic or equivalent.
  • Must have your own tools.
  • Experience in diagnosing and repair work.
  • Ability to use computer diagnostic programs.
  • Commitment to safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform minor tune-ups, tire replacements, wheel alignments, tire/wheel mounting and balance.
  • Use computer diagnostic programs for troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, steering, suspension and A/C systems.
  • Raise vehicles with hydraulic jack or hoist and test repaired mechanisms.
  • Road test vehicles pre- and post-repair.

Salary Range: CA$35.00 To CA$40.00 Hourly

CSN Alaska Hi-way is looking to onboard an experienced Automotive Service Technician to their team in Fort St. John, BC. This position would focus primarily on minor tune-ups, tire replacements, wheel alignments, tire/wheel mount and balance.

Key Requirements:
  • Journeyperson Automotive Service Technician / Mechanic or equivalent.
  • Complete working knowledge of the trade and related equipment along with the ability to apply the knowledge in diagnosis and repair work.
  • MUST have your own tools.
  • The ability to think logically and keep up with changes in technology.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental standards and procedures and a commitment to safe work habits.
  • Strength and stamina required to handle heavy tools, manual dexterity, creativity, patience and a keen eye for detail.
  • Work with computer diagnostic programs as well as charts, technical manuals and experience to manage troubleshooting activities.
  • Raise vehicles using hydraulic jack or hoist.
  • Repair automotive systems damaged in the course of collision, including: electrical, steering, suspension, breaking, air conditioning, etc.
  • Complete preventive maintenance such as minor tune-ups, tire replacements, wheel alignments, tire/wheel mount and balance.
  • Replace and adjusts headlights; install and repair accessories, such as: radios, heaters, mirrors and windshield wipers.
  • Full conventional vehicle frame replacement.
  • Diagnostics, ADAS system calibrations and front-end mechanical work.
  • Reassemble, adjust and test the repaired mechanism.
  • Vehicle road testing pre and post repair.
