Job summary

Portage Mutual Insurance Company is seeking an Automobile Telephone Claims Representative - II for a hybrid role based in St. Catharines, Ontario. You will investigate, reserve and negotiate auto claims, working with policyholders and service providers to reach timely resolutions.

The role requires 3–5 years in insurance or related fields, strong MS Office skills, and experience with claim systems. CIP or progress toward designation is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years in insurance or transferable service roles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and claim handling tools is expected.
• Post-secondary education and a willingness to pursue CIP are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review new losses and prepare an investigation plan.
• Contact the insured to discuss loss details and explain the process.
• Secure statements from policyholders and witnesses as needed.
• Organize photographs, diagrams and loss details for review.
• Engage engineers or appraisers to assist with facts and estimates.
• Review policy wordings to determine coverage and communicate positions.
• Collect information to estimate damages and negotiate settlements.
