Job summary

Johnson Electric in Ancaster, Ontario, is seeking a Process Engineer - Automated Assembly to develop, validate, and improve automation for advanced manufacturing equipment. You will lead capability studies, run feasibility analyses, and drive continuous improvement across installation and production validation.

The ideal candidate has a mechanical or electrical engineering degree and 5+ years in automated assembly process engineering, with experience in PLCs, robotics, and CAD tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in process engineering for automated assembly operations.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (press, vision systems, leak testing, measurement systems, fastening, etc.).
• Experience with process capability analysis and improvement tools (Lean, Six Sigma).
• Familiarity with PLC systems, robotics, and automation technologies.
• Proficiency in CAD tools such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate new automation processes, including feasibility studies and capability analysis.
• Support continuous improvement of installed manufacturing equipment and processes.
• Perform process capability studies, GR&R, and cycle time analysis.
• Debug, run-off, and implement automation cells in collaboration with customers and internal teams.
• Conduct run‑at‑rate testing and support production validation activities.
• Identify root causes of technical issues and implement corrective actions.
• Prepare process engineering documentation (work instructions, parameter sheets, reports).
• Collaborate with engineering, suppliers, and project teams to ensure timely project completion.
• Evaluate and select outsourced automation equipment and new technologies.
• Create 2D layouts and support process flow development.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and generate innovation ideas.
