Job summary

JLL is seeking an experienced Automation Manager in Metro Vancouver to design, develop, and implement automation control systems for industrial processes and warehouse equipment. The role focuses on reliability and performance of conveyors, sortation, scanners, cameras, print-and-apply systems, and SCADA devices.

You will mentor apprentices, design and troubleshoot PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks, and adhere to Automation Change Management while partnering with operations and support

Qualifications

• We require 2+ years hands-on PLC automation experience with ladder logic and structured text.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and mentor automation engineers.
• Experience with CMMS and coordinating maintenance with multiple stakeholders.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Willingness to work varied shifts including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, and optimize automation control systems and software for conveyors, sortation, scanners, and SCADA devices.
• Mentor Apprentices and act as site automation expert to meet safety and technical standards.
• Maintain documentation and follow Automation Change Management procedures.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, and support teams to deliver projects.
• Monitor MHE metrics, perform root-cause analysis, and lead remote troubleshooting.
• Communicate timelines, issues, and workarounds to leadership and stakeholders.
