Job summary

Innovative Automation Inc. in Barrie, Ontario is seeking an Applications Specialist to develop automation concepts and layouts for customer RFQs. You will quote concepts, work with suppliers, and present results to customers, while coordinating with sales and internal teams.

The role requires 3–5 years in manufacturing/automation, proficiency with SolidWorks/AutoCAD, and the ability to manage multiple quotations in a fast-paced environment. Some travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3–5 years in manufacturing or automation sectors.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and MS Office (Excel/PowerPoint).
• Working knowledge of relevant safety codes.
• Strong written and verbal communication with a customer-first mindset.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
• Life science manufacturing experience or GAMP familiarity is a plus.
• Ontario G Driver’s Licence.

Responsibilities

• RFQ review and scope definition to define requirements and risks.
• Develop competitive automation concepts and layouts using SolidWorks, AutoCAD.
• Validate concepts with cross-functional teams (Design, Controls, Manufacturing).
• Prepare costing, cycle time charts, supplier requests, and proposals.
• Review technical proposals with customers for scope, timing, and pricing.
• Support risk mitigation strategies with customers and stakeholders.
• Lead knowledge transfer from sales to design teams and support ECN quoting.
• Communicate project status, risks, and corrective actions for improvement.
• Assist Life Science business development and align with GAMP expectations.
