As demand for our solutions continues to grow, we are expanding our Applications Team and looking for an experienced Applications Specialist to help transform customer opportunities into practical automation concepts, competitive proposals, and successful projects.

If you enjoy solving manufacturing problems, working directly with customers, and combining technical expertise with commercial decision-making, we'd like to hear from you.

About the Role

The Applications Specialist serves as the critical link between Business Development and Engineering.

Working closely with customers, sales, and technical teams, you will evaluate new opportunities, develop conceptual automation solutions, prepare estimates and quotations, and create compelling proposals that help customers move forward with confidence.

This role is ideal for an experienced automation professional who enjoys solving real manufacturing problems, working with customers, developing creative automation concepts, and helping shape projects before they reach the shop floor.

What You’ll Do
  • Evaluate and qualify new customer opportunities alongside the Business Development team.
  • Review RFQs, specifications, and customer requirements to determine feasibility, scope, budget alignment, and overall fit.
  • Participate in customer meetings, site visits, technical discussions, and project reviews.
  • Analyze manufacturing challenges and develop practical automation concepts and solutions.
  • Create preliminary layouts and conceptual system designs to support proposals.
  • Define project scope, assumptions, deliverables, exclusions, risks, and commercial considerations.
  • Prepare budgetary estimates, ROM pricing, quotations, and detailed proposal packages.
  • Obtain and review supplier quotations for purchased equipment, subcontracted services, and key project components.
  • Collaborate with engineering, controls, project management, manufacturing, purchasing, and operations teams to develop cost-effective solutions.
  • Prepare customer-facing proposals, presentations, and technical summaries.
  • Support the successful handoff of awarded projects to execution teams.
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements in estimating accuracy, proposal quality, and quotation turnaround times.
  • Stay current with manufacturing technologies, automation solutions, and industry trends.
What Success Looks Like

In this role, you'll be successful when you:

  • Quickly evaluate and qualify customer opportunities.
  • Develop practical automation concepts that solve real manufacturing challenges.
  • Deliver accurate estimates and professional proposals on time.
  • Identify technical and commercial risks early.
  • Support Business Development with strong customer-focused solutions.
  • Help ensure awarded projects transition smoothly into execution.
What We’re Looking For
  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial automation, machine design, manufacturing systems, or automation integration.
  • Experience preparing estimates, quotations, budgets, or technical proposals.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and automated equipment.
  • Ability to evaluate customer requirements and develop practical automation concepts.
  • Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar engineering software.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to balance technical, commercial, and scheduling considerations.
  • Strong organizational and project prioritization skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license and passport.
Why Join TCA?
  • Challenging and rewarding automation projects
  • Opportunities to work with leading manufacturers across multiple industries
  • A collaborative and supportive team environment
  • Professional growth and development opportunities
  • Competitive compensation, benefits and profit sharing opportunities
  • A chance to directly influence business growth and customer success
